Forging is another ancient technique which involves the art of metal working, more importantly in this nature, the art of forging weapons. Dating back to Mesopotamia, roughly 4,500 B.C, although lead casts have been found which date as far back as 6,500 B.C. This period is generally known as "The Bronze Age", as the creation of alloys, such as bronze, was creating harder and stronger metals.

The Sumerians are generally credited as the founders of Bronze, which is a combination of copper and tin (roughly 90-95% copper). This would completely change the world, and Sumerians even mention bronze in the Epic of Gilgamesh as the weapons used to fight monsters.

Bronze would slowly find its way across the world, albeit at very different paces. The Chinese, for example, wouldn't begin implementing Bronze until roughly 1,700 B.C., which was very late into the Bronze Age, as iron began to take over around 1,200 B.C.
